Since there are many people in my family who are learning Spanish, a few with the goal of being able to communicate better with the US´s ever growing hispanic population, I thought it might be a good idea to give a mini lesson on slang here in Mexico that you can bust out in conversation to impress your friends. All of these are PG rated, but informal, I feel that that type of information can help you decide when to use it. Enjoy!
guey= amigo, dude (girls and guys use this, and it also can be used between the genders)
Que padre!= sweet! or how cool!
chido= cool... a little outdated but I like to bust it out
chela= cerveza= beer
chesco= refresco= soda
guera= rubia= blonde haired person
Tope= speed bump
buena onda= good person, like if you meet someone and you think they are nice, you can say ¨Es buena onda¨
platicar= not necesarily slang, but it´s used here as the verb ´to chat´
chamba= work
chavo= another word for ¨dude¨ o ¨man¨
¡Órale!= Right on, or cool
sale= sure, I agree with you, okay
I think that should get you guys started... MISS YOU ALL!
